Top 5 Gifts on a Dietitian-Mom's Wishlist
With Black Friday just a few days away and Christmas just around the corner, it is hard to not already be thinking about what good gift ideas are out there! If you find yourself with wee-ones who are still more enthralled with tissue paper and gift packaging than a present itself, consider these gifts that will help encourage healthy eating in your home!
Depending on how much you are looking to spend (if giving) or how generous certain Santas in your life may be (if receiving), this list gives a good range of gift ideas for any budget.
Our Overly Practical Approach
My husband and I often joke about what overly-practical gifts we end up giving each other, but we would so much rather give that way than gather a bunch of garbage neither of us need. Our almost two-year-old daughter likely won't appreciate this approach to gift giving much as she gets older, but thankfully we are still at a stage when we can get away with putting a few practical presents for her under the tree too.
When I was thinking about what criteria makes the cut as one of the top 5 gifts to encourage healthy eating in your home, I thought of three things:
1. Longevity for use: How long can we realistically use this product to it's full potential (ie. not end up stuffing it in a random corner cabinet in the kitchen for once a year use)?
2. Potential for use: How many applications have I found myself saying, "Gosh, I love this thing!"?
3. Actual use: How often does my daughter show interest in, excitement over, or engagement with what this product is/the service it offers?

'Tis the Season
If you have grandparents, aunts/uncles, God-parents, etc. asking what your little one(s) may be wanting as a gift this holiday season, why not ask for one of the above? Or if you have a fellow foodie family who you know may adore one (or two!) of the above items, why not make their Christmas by gifting them the very same?
