The first comment I got when I posted a before picture of this #loveitlikeitlearningit lunchbox on Instagram was from a dear friend and fellow registered dietitian at Milk & Honey Nutrition. She commented, "Raisins are now a #loveit food?!" With several hallelujah hands to follow.

And do you know what? It is true. I have a lot of hallelujah hands about the fact that slowly but surely, one food at a time, we are gradually growing our list of "love it foods" while continuing to then add new "learning it foods." Like many who may have followed us over the past school year, Mary Ellen knows the struggles I have had with getting our oldest to eat a variety of foods. Beyond knowing our challenges, she has also alongside us to witness how the Love it, Like it, Learning it approach helps moms (like myself!) celebrate each success -- even seemingly small ones like a toddler who went from never touching a raisin to now requesting them everyday!

Stick with it moms. By not catering to the constant requests for the same few foods, let us continue to feed our little ones in love, with respect, and yet all while encouraging an approach that looks at the big picture of raising a healthy eater for life!
